Proposals are invited, however, for papers on all fanfic topics and controversies. Contributions are especially welcome for panels on fan films, yaoi and Brokeback Mountain.

Please send an abstract of 200 words for a 20 minute paper to Dr Ian Hunter, iqhunter@dmu.ac.uk or to the following address:

DEADLINE FOR PROPOSALS: 15th December 2006

All readers, writers and academic researchers of fan fiction, as well as interested members of the public, are welcome to participate. Delegates at the Redemption 2007 Conference might wish to stay over for Slash 2: the two events are both in Leicestershire, UK.

There will be an attendance fee. Please contact Ian Hunter at <mailto:iqhunter@dmu.ac.uk> iqhunter@dmu.ac.uk to reserve a place.

Proposals are being sought for an edited collection of essays on the theme of Zombies in Literature and Film. Essays should address both literature and film as subjects and be aimed at an interdisciplinary academic audience. Here's a call for essays for a book collection on Charmed. One of the editors also edited the forthcoming Reading Stargate SG-1 collection which will be published jointly by IB Tauris and St. Martin's/Palgrave, which are good presses, which means good exposure in a context that spans both academic and general audiences. The other editor has done some really interesting work in television/cultural studies and has just published a book on tattoos, violence and desire in television and film. So, the boat will float, as they say.

CFP: not a grad one; focussing on fan art

"Fan/tastic Visuals"

Panellists are being sought for a potential session to be submitted to the 2006 International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts (ICFA), March 15-19 at the Wyndham Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel, Ft.
Lauderdale, Florida. This panel will focus on fan art, photo manipulation, video, web design, costuming, body modification, and other visual methods of creativity/expression by speculative fiction fan communities.

A panel discussion at the ICFA is typically 4-5 people participating in a more informal discussion on a given topic with greater audience participation as compared to the formal (and longer) paper sessions. The ICFA allows people to present a paper as well as participate in a panel discussion (information on Division Heads and paper submissions can be found at http://iafa.org/).

As Fan Studies is, by its very nature, an interdisciplinary field, scholars of all disciplines are invited to participate as members of the panel.

Please send your contact info (including name, institutional affiliation, snailmail, email and phone number) and a brief summary of your scholarly interests as relating to the panel topic and the main
point(s) or questions you would like to present during the panel discussion to Eden Lackner (lothlorien AT shaw DOT ca).

Each panellist will have 5 minutes for individual statements, and then the discussion will be opened up for audience questions and participation.
